Picture: Folsom Dam is located 23 miles northeast of Sacramento. It's primary function is flood control but it also stores water for irrigation, produces electrical power, promotes river fishery and provides water-related recreation.
As Geri sent me a number of post cards I decided to make a second page for California as it seemed a waste not to show them as she had gone to the trouble of getting them for me.
Picture: Old Auburn is an area of town that has been preserved much as it was during the gold rush era. Here, tourists will find unique shops, restaurants and antiques.
Picture: Pictured here is Tennessee Hughes, a historical re-enactor and living history performer of the 1849 California gold rush era. "Panning for Color" is the phrase used by prospectors who pan for gold.
