Picture: Jefferson Memorial - The building houses a 19 foot statue of the third President of the United States and the author of the Declaration of Independence. Above the entrance, which faces the Tidal Basin, a sculpture which depicts Jefferson standing before the committee appointed by the Continental Congress, shows him writing the Declaration of Independence.
